Print Sales

Selling Prints Should Be An Easy Decision

I

f you had a conversation with almost any photographer today about what they hope to achieve with their business, you would probably end up discussing how they spend their time outside of shooting.

Most photographers will say they spend their time:

  • Endlessly diving into the “Instagram Doom Scroll” (you know the one).
  • Researching for hours upon hours about what the best gear to buy is.
  • Watching YouTube videos on editing to sharpen their skills.
  • Flipping between that “dramatic dark and moody” look and the “blissful light and airy” one.

When asked how much time is spent selling their work in the form of tangible prints and products, many photographers say the same thing:

"Almost none".

1.2 Trillion

The question is, “Why?” Humanity is collectively taking over 1.2 trillion pictures per year. Where are most of our photos living these days? Where do your clients keep their photographs?

Printing our precious memories so that they don’t get lost in the digital flood is a more important practice than ever before! Physical prints still paint the walls of our homes with moments frozen in time, and photo albums offer an intimate, unfettered peek into the past lives of loved ones. It’s true that printed photographers still play an integral role in our lives, which further begs the question of why more photographers aren’t shouting from the rooftops about print sales and encouraging their clients to print everything!

What’s Stopping You?

Here’s the real reason: for most photographers, it comes down to fear.

Maybe it shows up as “I’m not good enough,” or, “I’m just not ready to start offering products.” Perhaps even a seemingly unbothered, “I don’t care” has crossed your mind! It makes sense. Putting your work (and by extension yourself) out there into the wild can be scary. Regardless of the excuse, the results are the same; all that potential money from product sales gets left on the table (even though you’ve already done 90% of the work!).

One of life’s most significant truths is that fear will stop you cold. It will freeze you up or get you to procrastinate (indefinitely) or distract you with endless hours of snooping on dozens of other photographers via social media who you believe are better than you. Fear can convince you that your excuses are valid. It doesn’t have to be that way. You have a choice.

You can choose something other than fear; you can choose action for your business!

In this case, you can choose to offer your clients products that will display the memories you have captured for them for years or even decades to come. CloudSpot makes that easy and automatic.

Start By Setting Up

Setting up your store is a cinch!

You can start slow: choose a product or two that you feel can best represent your work and your brand. As those products begin to sell, add more periodically. You don’t have to overwhelm yourself, or your clients, with too many options.

The results will speak for themselves.

It may seem daunting at first, but when you experience the joy coming from your clients after seeing a finished wall portrait in their family room or holding a finished album in their hands, you’ll know that it was the right decision. On top of that, you’ll be earning more for your time and your talents in a way that will allow your business to thrive in new and exciting ways.

Fear is real. So is the choice to overcome it. At CloudSpot, we’re looking forward to helping you do just that and more.
